What I know about Halloween
Halloween is one of the biggest celebrations. On Halloween children dress up in scary costumes and go to their neighbours and trick-or-treat them.

What I want to know about Halloween
I am not really interested in that, so almost nothing.

What I have learned about Halloween
I learned that Halloween comes from Europe. First the celebration was only for adults. They thought that on 31 October, the door to the world of strange creatures is opened and shadows come out to find a person with a pure heart and take his/her body. But 100 years later, Americans stopped the vandalism and Halloween is now mostly for children and some of the teens and adults.

Halloween is an annual holiday observed on October 31, primarily in the United States, Canada, Ireland and the UK. On that day, people put on traditional clothes. They are modeled to look as ghosts, skeletons, witches and devils. These costumes include popular characters. Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration. Children go from house to house in costumes and ask for treats such as candy or sometimes money with the question, "Trick or treat?" If the person opening the door says "treat", he/she gives candy or sometimes sweets to the children, but if they say "trick", the children can do some sort of trick. Some people make parties for Halloween and they are much fun.

Halloween is celebrated on 31 October. On Halloween most  kids go out for sweets. People decorate their houses with scary things like pumpkins, bats and other things. The story tells us about Jack, the pumpkin king.

I want to know all stories about Halloween and I want to know what it is like to go trick-or-treating.

What I learned about Halloween
The Celts celebrated New Year and they believed that on the 31st of October, the border between the dead and the living is opened.
The lantern is named after an Irish drunkard who tricked the devil three times. At their last meeting, the devil decided to let Jack live ten years more. Jack suddenly died. He couldn't go to heaven, but he couldn't go to hell either. He started going around the world with a pumpkin.

What sets Halloween costumes apart from costumes for other celebrations or days of dressing up is that they are often designed to imitate supernatural and scary beings. Costumes are traditionally those of monsters such as vampires, ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils, or in more recent years such science fiction-inspired characters as aliens and super. There are also costumes of pop culture figures like presidents, athletes, celebrities, or film, television, and cartoon characters. Another popular trend is for women (and in some cases, men) to use Halloween as an excuse to wear sexy or revealing costumes

In Latin America and Spain the beginning of
November is known as Los dias de Muertos - Day of the Dead.
October 31st is the day of children. People believe that during these
days dead people return to their homes so every home has an altar with
delicious food on it, water and a towel. On the last day of the feast,
in a cemetery, Mexicans drink tequila and a band of musicians plays in
honour of the dead.In hummungbirds and butterflies Latin Americans see
the souls of their relatives and friends.

1. Watching the flame of a
burning candle at the night of Halloween, you can peek into the future.
2. It is believed that if a man
lights a new orange candle and let it burn until morning, he will be
blessed with good luck.
3. If a candle flame suddenly
turns blue, this means there is a spirit around.
4. A person born on Halloween
can see and speak to spirits.
5. If you stand at a crossroads
in the evening of Halloween and listen to the voice of the wind, you’ll
hear the most important thing that will happen during the next 12
months.

The most interesting things:
In the ancient past, candles were used for the
performance of religious rituals. The candle flame is a symbol of
the human soul. A candle conducts human desires.

* yellow candle – before an exam
or at a time when you should make an important decision
* green candle – abundance, luck
and harmony

VARNA

Varna is the sea capital of Bulgaria. It's in the North of Bulgaria and we have a small sea. Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria. Our food is delicious, especially our "banitsa" which is very tasty. There is one festival every year. We have a Sea Garden and a dolphinarium. We also have a lot of alleys. In Varna there are a lot of restaurants and hotels. We also have a beach. In the summer, on the beach, there are a lot of people. We have a lot of shops and souvenirs and our city is the best city to live in in Bulgaria.

VARNA

Varna is the best city for living in Bulgaria. It is in the North of Bulgaria. There is a sea with vast beaches. There is also a very beautiful Sea Garden with all kinds of trees and lawns. You can walk on the alleys under the dense shadow of the trees all day long. There is also a dolphinarium.

The town is very beautiful and modern. There is a great center with fountains, a theatre, lots of shops and restaurants. In Varna, there is a historical museum and there are four malls.

VARNA

Varna is a big, amazing town in the North of Bulgaria. It's called The Sea Capital. It's near the beach and it has got a Sea Garden.

There are very big hotels and nice restaurants in it. There are a lot of malls and places to go shopping. It has got a lot of traffic, so the air is polluted. There are football stadiums too.

In the Sea Garden, there are lots of alleys and trees. People usually walk their dogs there. There is also a dolphinarium. In the center of Varna there are a lot of shops and cafés.

You could never be bored in a town like this. It's the best one in Bulgaria!

VARNA FESTIVALS

One of the events during the summer in Varna is the music festival Varna Summer. The first Varna Summer Festival was held in 1926. It is the oldest music festival in Bulgaria and one of the festivals with the longest tradition in Europe. It is held every year in June - July. This is an international festival. Every year the festival program features many Bulgarian and international musicians, opera singers, ballet dancers and orchestras. The participants of the festival stay at various hotels in Varna. There are many restaurants and places to eat in our town. The artists can taste our traditional Bulgarian dishes.
